On Sunday 8 November, cadets from 966 (Wallingford) Squadron attended the Remembrance Sunday Parade in Wallingford Town Centre.
A total of 27 Air Cadets attended the yearly parade in Wallingford, during which the town joins the country to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war. This year’s parade included a service in the town square and the ceremonial laying of wreaths upon the war memorial during which the names of the local fallen were read out.
Personnnel from RAF Benson were also present at the parade including the base commander Group Captain Jonathan Burr. RAF Benson also supplied Merlin and Puma helicopters for a fly-past at 11 o’clock.
Flight Lieutenant Chris Tocher, who commands Wallingford Air Cadets said: “It was fantastic to see so many of Wallingford’s young people supporting such an important event for one of the country’s most significant days for the armed services.”
The day before the parade, a number of members of Wallingford Air Cadets also took part in fundraising for the Royal British Legion by selling poppies in and around the centre of town.
