On Saturday 4 June 17 cadets from the squadron went to RAF Benson for the Cadet Muster to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps. To mark the occasion RAF Benson had kindly offered to fly 700 cadets throughout the day in both Puma and Chinook helicopters. Along with Thame Sqn the cadets from Wallingford had a special role during the day in marshalling groups of 35 cadets from squadrons as far afield as Hastings whilst they awaited and then boarded the aircraft. In addition other cadets were selected to fly in Grob Tutors from No.6 Air Experience Flight based at RAF Benson.
Besides the flying which for most cadets was the highlight of the day a number of ground exhibits covering all aspects of life in the RAF had been organised. On static display was a Tornado GR4 from RAF Marham, a BAE Systems Hawk T2 from RAF Valley and a Typhoon from RAF Coningsby. Whilst in the hanger other exhibits featured aircraft survival gear and the various weapons that can be deployed on the helicopters currently based at RAF Benson.
A number of cadets described the occasion as one of the best day in their cadet career and for making this possible a huge vote of thanks should be extended to RAF Benson and the visiting squadrons for supplying the aircraft to make the day one to remember.
