966 (Wallingford) Squadron

The ATC has a wide range of sports available from football to rugby, netball to hockey. Sports are available at all levels; cadets can even represent their country against the Army or Sea Cadets!

Get out, get active!

Each squadron offers sports such as football, netball and even swimming as part of its on-going training programme. These events are a great opportunity to get to know your fellow cadets better and work together as a team. Often squadrons in a local area will even arrange competitions such as 5-a-side football or inter-squadron netball competitions. These are a fantastic way to get fit and stay active as well as an opportunity to bring home a win for the squadron.

Taking it further

121_spots_rel10_1If you have a keen interest in sport then the Air Training Corps has a number of different activities open to cadets. These are available at local level and all the way up to national level. Corps official sports are football, rugby, hockey, netball, swimming, athletics and cross country running

These events often involve working closely with cadets from outside your Squadron so provide an excellent opportunity for you to meet new people. If you have the ability you may even be selected for the Wing or Regional teams. Some cadets represent the Air Training Corps playing against the Army Cadet Force or Sea Cadet Corps in their chosen sport.

Coach and train

If you are interested in taking sport further the Air Training Corps offers older cadets the opportunity to gain the Community Sports Leader Award. This allows you to train other cadets safely in how to conduct specified sports and help train for Squadron, Wing and even national events. If you are interested in learning more about the sporting opportunities on offer speak to your Squadron sports officer for more information.
