On 25 September 13 cadets from 966 (Wallingford) Sqn took part in the various competitions organised at the Thames Valley Wing Activities Day.
Overall, 966 Sqn came a credible 5th place out of a total of the 26 Sqn’s taking part. Our strength lay in a strong performance in the ‘greens’ section of the competition. In this section we came top with an overall score of 512, a comfortable lead over 381 (Reading) Sqn who scored 440. Out of the 8 categories in the ’greens’ section 966 Sqn was placed in 7 of them.
The individual placings were ……
1st – Field Craft Patrol and Map Quiz
2nd – Field Craft Quiz, Field Craft Observation and Adventure Training Cooking
3rd – First Aid and DofE Quiz
The Squadron couldn’t quite match this performance in the ‘blues’ section but credit should go to the Media Skills Team who gained a credible 2nd place in their category.
On the whole, a fine performance and one that shows 966 Squadron has the potential to win the competition next year.
