Wing Activities Day – 30 Sept 2012

On Sunday 30 September 2012, 966 (Wallingford) Squadron came a credible 5 out of the 25 squadrons who entered the Thames Valley Wing Activities Day at Edward Brookes Barracks, Abingdon.  The team of 16 cadets from the squadron were amongst nearly 300 other cadets who tackled a variety of activities from the traditional Banner/Foot Drill competitions through Aircraft Recognition, Model Making, First Aid, Photography and Aviation Art to the more obscure activities of Super Snooker and Flight of Fancy.  Sgt Euan Thompson took first prize in the over 16 ‘ACO and its People’ photographic category and overall 966 squadron came out of the competition ahead of the other 3 squadrons who make up their area sector. The two senior NCOs, FS David Payne, who was the team leader, and FS Sally Evans, who acted as drill NCO on the day, paid tribute to the 966 cadets who took part in the competition, they also added, ‘Next year we intend to improve on our few weak areas with the intention of winning in 2013′
